Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication Services
Qualigie's custom sheet metal fabrication services offer a fast and cost-effective solution to projects of our customers worldwide, from 1 prototype to 1000+ production parts. Processes include cutting, punching, bending, welding, drilling, tapping, hardware insertion and mechanical assembly. Common materials include aluminium, steel, stainless steel, brass, etc. All parts can be subject to post-processing upon your request, such as heat-treatment, powder coating, bead blasting, etc.
Laser Cutting
Laser Cutting
Laser cutting is one of the most effective sheet metal fabrication method that using high-energy focused laser beam to cut the sheet material. Lasers can cut through material quickly and efficiently, leading to create smooth, sharp, and clean edges and curves with minimal deformation.
Suitable material thickness: 0. 5mm to 20 mm
Max. cutting size: 6500 x 2500 mm
Laser sources: both CO2 & fiber lasers up to 10 kw
Repeatability: ± 0.05 mm
Positioning accuracy: ± 0.10 mm
Plasma Cutting
Plasma Cutting
Another very common cutting technique is plasma cutting. It uses a high-temperature electric arc to melt flat sheets into various shapes. It is less-expensive than laser cutters but can still achieve good edge quality for thin sheets. It is normally used to cut much thicker sheet metals, but for thicker sheets, the cut edge is not as clean as with laser cutting.
Suitable material thickness: 0. 5mm to 100 mm
Max. cutting size: 6000 x 1500 mm
Tolerances: ± 0.3 mm
Punching
Punching
Punching is a cutting process in which material is removed from a piece of sheet metal by applying a great enough shearing force. It is used to make holes and cutouts of various shapes and sizes. There is a small amount of clearance between the punch and the die to prevent the punch from sticking in the die and so less force is needed to make the hole. The amount of clearance needed depends on the thickness, with thicker materials requiring more clearance, but the clearance is always greater than the thickness of the workpiece.
Bending
Bending
Bending involves forming sheet metal into the desired profile by applying force to the workpiece. It can change the angle of sheet metal into V-shape, U-shape, etc. During the bending process, the metal plate is placed on the V-shaped or U-shape die, and the punch presses the metal plate into the die under the action of pressure. We normally use this method to shape the sheet metal after the cutting process.
Max. part size: 1500 x 1500 mm
Bending thickness: up to 60 mm
Metal bending forces: up to 1000 tons
Bending line length: up to 7200 mm
Tolerances: according to ISO 2768 (medium)
Bend angle: ± 1°
Welding
Welding
Welding is used to join pieces of metal together to form a strong permanent bond, in which the metals are heated to a melting point, mixed together and then cooled, creating a single object. It is an inexpensive and compatible process to join metals. We offer different types of welding services including MIG welding, TiG welding, Spot welding, etc. Once a weld is finished, a post-processing step is required to help polish, cut, or shape to the desired effect.
Fastening
Fastening
Riveting and clinching are other two types of joining operation we use for sheet metals. The riveting process involves placing the rivet inside the drilled hole in the sheet metal parts. Afterward, the rivet mandrel is pulled against the rivet head using a riveting machine. It secures the sheet metal parts and rivets in position. Clinching process creates a button-type position connection between two or three layers of sheet metal, it is used to join different material and sheet thickness parts.
With all the processes, Qualigie provides one-stop sheet metal manufacturing service from initial to final parts.
